The Panthéon {1790}, “Every God” from Greek, was originally built as a church & now functions as a secular mausoleum containing the remains of distinguished French citizens.  It was the first thing we actually planned to visit, since we spent our first two days wandering around Paris.  I must admit  I was not thrilled to go to the Panthéon since I didn’t know much about it; gladly my best friend is smarter than I am so we headed there.
